On June 4, from 8am-12pm, at Hillside High School's track we will be having a large community event, "Walk A Mile with a Child." This event aims to address the issue of childhood obesity that is plaguing our community. We hope to have 250-300 young people participate and will be advertising in local churches and community centers. In addition we plan to speak with the young people about our professions and our respective paths to medicine, in hopes of encouraging mentorship and increase the number of young people of color entering the health professions. We will need "all hands on deck" and as much member participation in this project as possible. -via UNC School of Medicine website
